Rev. Connie Young, Senior Pastor
Greetings! My name is Connie Young, and I was born in Ravenna, Ohio. When I was a young child, we attended the First Congregational church until the minister addressed my father from the pulpit to "Take that disruptive child out of the sanctuary." My father picked me up and walked out, never to return. I assure you that will never happen during my service! My mother and I continued to attend church without him for the rest of my childhood. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior in October 1972 at the age of ten.
I graduated from nursing school in 1982, and I am a retired Licensed Practical Nurse as of July 1, 2026. I have worked in many different areas of nursing over the last 43 years.
I met my husband Dana in the Church of God that I had once attended as a teenager, and we were married there in 1985. We have lived in Ohio, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and currently Pennsylvania. We have five children and several grandchildren.
One day when I was walking out of a patient’s room, I heard a voice say, "What good is it to heal the body if the soul is still perishing?" I stepped back into the room and asked my patient if he had said something to me, but he replied, "No". A year later that exact same voice said the exact same thing to me again. My husband and I decided to visit the Nazarene Church" near us. It felt like home at first handshake. It was there that I found the support and courage to finally answer God's call into ministry.
In 2018, I was ordained as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene! This has been my prayer and my heart’s desire to serve God and His people. I served as an Associate Intern Minister with a primary focus on discipleship at the Albion Church of the Nazarene. I also served as the Interim Minister at another Nazarene church in a neighboring town. I was a lead minister at another Church of the Nazarene before accepting the position here at Beacon of Hope Community Church of the Nazarene.
I love all animals, but cows and dogs are my favorite animals. We currently have three dogs living in our house. Loving and caring for animals and having a small garden are my hobbies.
